Prague EAGLES uses our Sports Solution and automated camera switching

About the project

We have been working with the Eagles Prague baseball & softball club for many years and up until now they have been using our Sport Events integration. The integration allowed scoreboard integration and streaming of the matches to YouTube. The client also had the option to manually switch individual cameras within the stream, making the stream more live and taking in more angles of the field, but this meant having a dedicated person to control the stream in real time. We decided to automate the switching to optimize this solution, along with adding more additional functionality.

Technical Solution

Our client - the Eagles Prague baseball & softball club – uses our Sports Solution to stream their matches using two Axis cameras. The solution works through an app installed directly on the main camera. The app control is fully autonomous and its setup is easily done remotely through CamStreamer Cloud. The main camera captures the entire field and the pitchers. The camera runs an AI trained script that evaluates whether a pitch is coming and can automatically switch to a second camera that captures a close-up of the batter.

The automated switching needed to be calibrated, because the position of the camera, lighting conditions and type of players are important. The script within the solution is currently tuned for pro players, kids, and enthusiastic amateurs.

The solution also allows integrating the Ballclubz app licensed with WBSC to display scores and player information in real-time. At a sports event, a responsible person with a tablet or a mobile phone is connected to Ballclubz scoring service and enters their current score, which is the source of data. Sports Solution reads this data and inserts it as a graphic overlay into the picture of the sports stream.

Individual matches can be scheduled in advance in an intuitive interface in CamStreamer Cloud. Team and sponsor logos, or advertising jingles are also uploaded here to be played during breaks.
The interface is ready to use during the match itself for live feeds or audio commentary.

Each match is recorded as well. In the recording, it is possible to tag key moments afterwards or directly during the match. This is used for quick orientation in the recording or for creating highlight videos with the most interesting shots that can be exported in a few clicks. You can of course export recordings from all connected cameras, which the club can use for hit analysis for coaches.

The stream starts itself, automatically switches cameras, reads and displays scores, and also automatically records. We can play commercials during breaks and then easily switch back to the field."
